Let us discuss some aspects of male infertility. Azoospermia means there are no sperms seen on semen examination. However a patient can be labeled as azoospermic only when at least 3 semen analysis shows no sperms. This could be either due to damage to the sperm prdoducing cells or testicular failure or the sperms cannot be delivered outside due to blocks in the vas. This can be differentiated by doing serum FSH and testosterone levels. A high FSH level indicates testicular failure.
