Intrauterine insemination is of two types. One is with processed husband's semen and the other is with matched and processed donor semen. The use of donor semen is used in patients with azoospermia which cannot be corrected with surgical treatment and in patients with severely reduced sperm count and motility if the couple do not want to go in for icsi. Iui with husband's semen is used for a no of indications like unexplained infertility, endometriosis, mildly reduced sperm count or motility and couples having a physical and mechanical barrier for conception.
