One of the important causes of infertility is the tubal factor. The tubes may either be blocked or damaged due to various reasons. Tubal blocks can be due to tubercular or chlamydial infections. Sometimes peritubal adhesions can cause infertility. Tubal factors can be assessed by various tests like hysterosalpingography where a dye is injected into the uterus and an xray is taken, sonosalpingography where saline is injected into the tubes and USG is done. Laproscopy is an endoscopic procedure where the entire uterotubal and pelvic anatomy is visualised. Either of these procedures can be done for tubal assessment in infertility.
