Pregnancy induced hypertension is commonly seen after 20 wks pregnancy. It is more common in first pregnancies especially in the elderly patients, twin pregnancies. The common symptoms include edema all over the body, excessive weight gain and excessively smoky urine due to protein loss., rise in blood pressure more than 140/90 on more than 2 occasions. If untreated, it can have disastrous consequences for both the mother and fetus.
