What is ovulation monitoring? This is an USG done to asses the growth of the eggs or follicles and it can be done abdominally or by the transvaginal approach. It is an important tool in the workup of infertility since it helps to detect the timing of ovulation and timed intercourse can help in conceiving. Also procedures like iui or intrauterine insemination can be timed. In ivf or invitro fertilisation it helps us to schedule the timing of ovum pickup. We can also asses the endometrium during the ovulation monitoring. Postcoital tests can also be appropriately scheduled.
